I’m Lindsay – sometimes Dr. Lindsay, sometimes Professor Granger, always grateful for the opportunity to share what I know. Thanks for stopping by!
This site has gone through a series of identities since I bought the domain way back in 2009. From lifestyle-ish blog to opinion blog to career development blog + coaching service, the changes mirror the evolution of my own professional goals and aspirations. Now that I’m not trying to be a “niched” blogger (or even a blogger at all), I see this as a space to just be me. To share what I’m up to, what I care about, and anything else that comes to mind when I feel like publishing to the interwebs.
But you came to this page to hear about me, not the website. LOL my bad…
I’ve worked in higher education since 2011, and the education field more broadly since about 2007. My career has taken me from high school guidance counselor to academic advisor to career services, but my personal passions lie at the intersection between college access and career readiness. I’m interested in ways to create more opportunities for members of under-served groups to create the lives that they want to lead instead of following a path that is often dictated by the circumstances of their birth. I wrote my Educational Leadership dissertation on how these concepts impact Black American women, and I’m working on turning it into an actual book. (Stay tuned!)
Outside of work and independent research, I love to make stuff. Crochet is my current crafty obsession – I picked it up in November 2016 in an effort to channel my post-election angst into something productive – but my other faves are paper crafting and zentagles. (I also used to make jewelry, but so did everyone else!) My Etsy shop – aptly titled “GrangerMade” – reflects my various and varied crafting adventures.
If I seem all over the place, it’s because I am. But that’s how I like it. I’m finally comfortable with doing things that don’t make sense to other people, and I’m loving the ride. Feel free to join me!
